Adriana Gonzalez Receives Grant From Foundation Jean-Luc Lagardère

By Francisco Salazar

Soprano Adriana Gonzalez has received a grant from the Fondation Jean-Luc Lagardère.

The grant will go towards Gonzalez and Inaki Encina’s upcoming album for Audax Records.

For the new album, Gonzalez will explore the music of Albéniz. In a statement, the soprano said, “As a Spanish-speaking artist, I am always asked to sing Spanish programs with the Siete canciones populares españolas by De Falla or the tonadillas by Granados or Obradors. While Albéniz is considered one of the major composers of Spanish music, especially for his piano work, his vocal music remains largely unexplored. It is music of extraordinary harmonic and melodic richness. These 30 melodies offer a real journey through the life of Albéniz and a remarkable panorama of the evolution of his style.”

The soprano recently released her first album Dussaut – Covatti: Mélodies which received critical acclaim.
