Hildegard Publishing Company will release “24 French Songs & Arias by Women Composers.”

The anthology, created in collaboration with A Modern Reveal, features the largest compilation of vocal music by French women by such composers as Pauline Viardot-Garcia, Leonora Orsini, Maddalena Casulana, Francesca Caccini, and Maria Malibran, among others. The volume was edited by Randi Marrazzo and Nicole Leone.

“Editors Randi Marrazzo and Nicole Leone – the creative team at A Modern Reveal – identified a relative lack of historical works by French women composers available for younger singers,” says a description on the publisher’s website. “Exposure to music by these women composers will provide a meaningful educational and musical resource for singers, educators, and audiences, and is much needed for a genre that has not been adequately explored.”

A Modern Reveal is an online resourced that promotes the work and stories of historical women composers that have been overlooked for centuries.
