UPDATE: Ewa Vesin will replace Olga Busuioc in the title role. Vesin performed last Friday and will also take on the role again on Monday, January 27.

The Staatsoper Stuttgart has announced a cast change for its Jan. 27 performance of “Tosca.”

The company said that Dmytro Popov will sing the role of Cavaradossi, replacing an ill Atalla Ayan.

Ayan previously canceled his performance on Jan. 24, 2025.

Popov has performed the role of Cavaradossi at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The tenor has performed at many important theaters including the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro Real Madrid, Opéra National de Lyon, and Opéra de Monte-Carlo. His repertoire includes the music of Puccini, Bizet, Verdi, and Tchaikovsky, among others.

Popov joins a cast that includes Olga Busuioc and Lucio Gallo. Alevtina Ioffe conducts the production by Willy Decker.
