Mécénat Musica Reaches $100 Million Goal & Unveils New Initiatives

The Mécénat Musica matching program has reached its goal of $100 million in capital in perpetuity for Quebec cultural organizations.

This allowed Mécénat Musica to unveil 70 artist and donor initiatives. There are now 38 artist prizes, 15 artist residencies,  seven artist programs, and 10 donor programs. For the purposes of the article, only classical voice information is included.

Patronage Musica 38, Artist Prizes include the Goyer Prize, HEC Artists Prize, and the Crowdfunding Prize. Patronage Musica 15, Artist Residencies are mezzo-soprano Kristin Hoff and tenor Sam Champagne, who serve as Ambassadors in Residence Soprano Karina Gauvin is the 2024-25 Artist in Residence, Jaap Nico Hamburger is the current Composer in Residence, and Frédéricka Petit-Homme serves as an Educator in Residence. The Choir in Residence for 2020 – 31 is Ensemble ArtChoral.

Mini-Health Concerts & Mini-Operas Health, Opera Pottery, Le 9e Grand Salle, and various tours take place in part by Patronage Musica 7, Artist Programs. There are also new initiatives for donors thanks to Musica 10, Donor Programs Patronage, including Cultural Donation Tax Credit,  Musica Family Patronage, and Community Foundation Partners, among others.

In celebration of these initiatives and milestones the Maison Symphonique will give a concert on Mother’s Day, May 11, 2025.
