David Portillo, Michael Chioldi, Claudia Boyle & Soraya Mafi Lead Irish National Opera’s 2024-25 Season

The Irish National Opera has announced its 2024-25 season.

The company will open with a double bill featuring “Mary Motorhead” and “Trade.” Naomi Louisa O’Connell, Oisin O’Dalaigh, and John Molloy star in the production. Elaine Kelly conducts and Tom Creed directs.

Performance Date: August 8Oct. 23, 2024

Paula Murrihy and David Portillo lead Berlioz’s “Béatrice and Bénédict,” alongside Anna Devin, Niamh O’Sullivan, Paul Grant, Padraic Rowan, and John Molloy. Ryan Mc Adams conducts.

Performance Date: Oct. 1, 2024

Michael Chioldi will take on the title role of Verdi’s “Rigoletto” alongside Soraya Mafi, Bekhzod Davronov, Julian Close, and Niamh O’Sullivan. Fergus Sheil conducts Julien Chavaz’s production.

Performance Dates: Dec. 1-7, 2024

Jade Phoenix, Sarah Shine, Alex McKissick, Aaron O’Hare, William Pearson, Ben McAteer, Sharon Carty, Megan O’Neill, and Ben Escorcio star in J. Strauss’ “Die Fledermaus.” Richard Peirson conducts the production by Davey Kelleher.

Performance Dates: Feb. 1-23, 2025

Alfred Walker leads Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” with Giselle Allen, James Creswell, Toby Spence, and Carolyn Dobbin. Fergus Sheil conducts the production by Rachael Hewer.

Performance Dates: March 23-29, 2025

Claudia Boyle, Duke Kim, Gianluca Margheri, and John Molloy lead Donizetti’s “L’Elisir d’Amore” with Erina Yashima conducting and Cal McCrystal directing. 

Performance Dates: May 25-June 7, 2025
