Rachel Willis-Sørensen, Benjamin Appl, Sir Bryn Terfel, Roderick Williams, Elena Pankratova Headline Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s 2024-25 Season

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra has announced its 2024-25 season.

Here is a rundown of the vocal performances on offer.

The season opens with  a concert featuring soprano Sarah Wegener. The program includes Strauss’ “Four Last Songs” and works by Juan Bautista Plaza and Mahler. Domingo Hindoyan conducts.

Performance Dates: Oct. 17 & 20, 2024

Next up is a performance that features Walton’s “Belshazzar’s Feast” starring Sir Bryn Terfel. Adam Hickox conducts a program that also includes works by Mendelssohn and Anna meredith.

Performance Dates: Nov. 9, 2024

Richard Balcolmbe leads “White Christmas,” which features vocalists Graham Bickley, Stuart Matthew Price, Katie Birtill, and Laura Tebbutt.

Performance Dates: Dec. 14, 2024

Roderick Williams OBE headlines “The Spirit of Christmas. Matthew Hamilton conducts.

Performance Dates: Dec. 17 – 23, 2024

As part of the holiday celebration, audiences will get to experience “Family Concert: Santa Comes to Town!” which features the Liverpool Philharmonic Children’s Choirs under Michael Seal.

Benjamin Appl, Anna Devin, Silke Gäng, James Way, and Alex Rosen solo in Händel’s “Messiah.”

Performance Dates: Jan. 11, 2025

Anna Crookes headlines a program of works by Rebecca Clarke.

Performance Dates: Feb. 10, 2025

Benjamin Appl joins the Ensemble 10:10, the organization’s contemporary music ensemble, in a program of works by Goehr, Boulez, Widmann, and Nneka Cummins.

Performance Dates: March 5, 2025

Robert Guy conducts a program featuring the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Orchestras and Youth Choir.

Performance Dates: March 16, 2025

Baritone Armand Rabot joins the Liverpool String Quartet for a program of works by Barber, Elgar, Finzi, and Mendelssohn.

Performance Dates: March 24, 2025

Jennifer Johnston is the mezzo-soprano soloist in Domingo Hindoyan’s performance of Mahler’s Third Symphony.

Performance Dates: March 29, 2025

Dinis Sousa conducts Janácek’s “Glagolitic Mass.” Soloists include Evelina Dobraceva, Katarina Karnéus, Ales Briscein, and Jan Martinik.

Performance Dates: April 12, 2025

Elena Pankratova will headline a concert of highlights from Wagner’s “Ring.” Domingo Hindoyan conducts.

Performance Dates: May 1, 2025

Antony Hermus conducts the orchestra in Opera North’s production of “Simon Boccanegra” with Roland Wood, Brindley Sherratt, Andrés Preson, and Mandla Mndebele as the vocal soloist.

Performance Dates: May 11, 2025

The Liverpool Philharmonic will join forces with Singers from Pegasus Opera Company to present a program of works by Joseph Bologne, Richard Thompson, and Des Oliver.

Performance Dates: May 31 & June 1, 2025

Sophie Bevan MBE is the soloist in Mahler’s Symphony No. 4. Ryan Wigglesworth conducts. The program also include music by Strauss and a world premiere by Grace-Evangeline Mason.

Benjamin Appl and James Baillieu present a program of works by Schubert, Brahms, Barber, Britten, Mozart, and Tchaikovsky, among others.

The Liverpool Songbook will feature Graham Bickley with Richard Balcombe conducting.
