Mariinsky Theatre to Hold Concert for Victims of Crocus City Hall

The Mariinsky Theatre has announced that it will perform a concert for the victims of the Crocus City Hall tragedy.

The company said that on March 27, Verdi’s Requiem will be played in the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre.

The concert will honor the memory of “the victims of the terrible terror attack in Moscow.”

Valery Gergiev will conduct a concert, which will be headlined by performed by Ildar Abdrazakov, Ekaterina Semenchuk, Irina Churilova, and Sergey Skorokhodov.

In a statement, the company said, “The staff of the Mariinsky Theater expresses its deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the deceased. The performance of Verdi’s Requiem will be an action in memory of those who became victims of this cruel and inhuman act of violence. We mourn the dead and wish the victims a speedy recovery.”

On March 22, the Crocus City Hall suffered the deadliest terror attack on Russia’s capital in decades and came less than a week after President Vladimir Putin secured victory in a stage-managed election. The attack claimed 133 lives and terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the deadly incident.
