Olga Pudova, Kayleigh Decker, Jacquelina Livieri, Roderick Williams Headline Welsh National Opera 2023-24 Season

The Welsh National Opera has unveiled its 2023-24 season.

First up is Golijov’s “Ainadamar.” Directed by Deborah Colker and conducted by Matthew Kofi Waldren, the opera will star Jaquelina Livieri, Julieth Lozano, and Alfredo Tejada.

Performance Dates: Sept. 9 – Nov. 22, 2023 

Olga Pudova will headline “La Traviata” in a production by David McVicar (Sarah Crisp will be the revival director). Alexander Joel conducts a cast that also includes David Junghoon Kim and Mark S. Doss.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21 – Nov. 25, 2023

Tom Redmond will present “Play Opera LIVE Space Spectacular,” a family show for all ages.

Performance Dates: Sept. 30– Nov. 25, 2023

Kayleigh Decker, James Atkinson, Rebecca Evans, Egor Zhuravskii, Sophie Bevan, and Fabio Capitanucci headline “Così fan tutte.” Max Hoehn directs and Tomás Hanus conducts.

Performance Dates: Feb. 24 – May 4, 2024

That will be followed up by a “Opera Favourites” concert featuring music by Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, and Britten, among others.

Performance Dates: March 5 – May 3, 2024

Next is Britten’s “Death in Venice” with Alexander Chance, Roderick Williams, and Mark Le Brocq. Olivia Fuchs directs and Leo Hussain conducts.

Performance Dates: March 7 – May 1, 2024

The company will present “The Very Last Green Thing” as part of the Seligman youth Opera program. The work will be conducted by Dan Perkin and directed by Rhian Hutchings. It will be paired with another opera called “Solomon’s Ring.”

Performance Dates: May 25-26, 2024

Closing out the Welsh National Opera season is “Il Triticco” with Alexia Voulgaridou, Vuvu Mpofu, Justina Gringyte, Roland Wood, Leonardo Caimi, Tichina Vaughn, Haegee Lee, and Oleskiy Palchykov, among others. Carlo Rizzi conducts a revival of a production by Sir David McVicar.

Performance Dates: June 15 – 22, 2024
