The Verbier Festival and Deutsche Grammophon will join forces to produce Verbier Festival Gold, a new label that will release recordings from the major event’s archives.

The very first release of the venture will be a 2013 recording of Verdi’s Requiem conducted by Gianandrea Noseda. The Requiem stars Maria Agresta, Daniela Barcellona, Piotr Beczala, and Ildar Abdrazakov, who appear alongside the Coro Teatro Regio Torino and the Verbier Festival Orchestra. The audio recording releases on March 25 followed by an April 16 streaming release on DG’s online platform.

Another major release will be Sir Bryn Terfel’s 2011 recital alongside pianist Llyr Williams. That showcase, which featured music by Schumann, Ibert, Quilter, and Schubert, will get a release on May 20, 2022.

Verbier Festival Gold will also release recordings headlined by pianist Yuja Wang and violinist Kristóf Baráti.

“It is with great pride that we announce the Verbier Festival Gold label with our friends at Deutsche Grammophon. We have created many iconic memories with our community of artists in Verbier over the last 29 years, and we are honoured to share them now together with such a prestigious partner,” said Martin T:son Engstroem, Founder & Director, in an official press statement.
