Soundstreams Announces New Executive Director

Soundstreams has appointed Toronto-based Artistic Leader, Producer and Managing Director Beth Brown as its new Executive Director.

Brown joins Artistic Director, Founder Lawrence Cherney, while Emma Fowler, who served as Acting Executive Director, will return to her role as Director of Artistic Planning and Outreach, effective November 1.

“I am impressed by the passion and commitment of the staff and the board, as well as the breadth of work that Soundstreams produces over the course of each season and I hope that my work can reach not only local communities, but nationally. and international, ”said Brown in an official statement.

“I am delighted to welcome new Executive Director Beth Brown. Beth brings deep experience in artistic leadership as the organization is nearing 40 years of existence. I extend a welcome greeting to Coco Chen and Rebecca Cuddy, ”said Daniel Weinzweig, President of Soundstreams’ Board of Directors.

Brown graduated from Queen’s University with a BA in Music and then studied Technical Theater Production at the National Theater School of Canada. Upon graduation, Brown worked as a stage manager and production manager on productions in Toronto and abroad for many years. Brown is also a board member of the Toronto Performing Arts Alliance (TAPA), where she chairs the nominating committee for Dora jury nomination committee.
