Opera NexGen Announces 2021-22 Season

Remote and virtual company Opera NexGen has just released its plans for the 2021-2022 season, which it has titled “Without Looking Back.”

The showcase will include two main stage performances and six fully virtual artist-focused webinars.

In the summer of 2020, Opera NexGen was created as a BIPOC organization, led by women and providing operatic performances, with a diverse artistic community, which aims to discover the next generation of talent, committed to equality, equity, inclusion and excellence, based solely on vocal ability above all others.

“I am excited to welcome new faces to the Opera NexGen team for this season and I know that their visions will be exciting for the public,” said André Chiang, artistic director of the organization, in a press release. 

The fall production, entitled “Night Trip,” will feature a libretto by Sandra Seaton and conductor Donald Allen Lee. Kimille Howard will director. The showcase will also include a talk-back with members of the cast and artistic team. 

Performance Date: Dec. 11, 2021

The second production of the fall will include a woman-led showcase of “Orfeo ed Euridice” in honor of International Women’s Month. Chelsea Gallo conducts with and Lauren Lenz directing. 

Performance Dates:  March 4 & 6, 2021
