Opera Philadelphia has announced programming changes for Season 2 of the Opera Philadelphia Channel.

The company announced that the Glass-Handel program slated to premiere in October has been canceled. In May the company announced plans to stream a concert film and documentary created by American countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo in collaboration with producer Cath Brittan and avant-garde fashion/art company Visionaire. The concert film would have included performances held at New York’s Cathedral of St. John the Divine, featuring Eric Jacobsen conducting  The Knights, as well as never-before-seen footage in a documentary about the project. A concert film of the Philadelphia performances was not possible since a quality audio recording did not exist.

However, the project was canceled when “members of the Opera Philadelphia Orchestra expressed their displeasure and concern over the use of the archival footage featuring another orchestra.”

The company has also canceled a new film of Hans Werner Henze’s “El Cimarrón,” which was slated to star bass-baritone Sir Willard White and directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges and Jorge Cousineau. The company announced that Sir White withdrew from the project due to personal reasons and the company was unable to recast the production.

Opera Philadelphia will announce new digital programing in the coming weeks.
