Royal Swedish Opera Streaming Two Operatic Masterworks Starring Katarina Dalayman, Greer Grimsley, Irene Theorin

The first of these that is streaming is Verdi’s “Aida” in a production by Michael Cavanaugh. It stars Katarina Dalayman as Amneris, Christina Nilsson as Aida, Iva Defabiani as Radamès, and Alessio Cacciamani as Ramfis. Pier Giorgio Morandi conducts the performance, which is presented in two parts.
The website also offers up a video preview by Cavanaugh in which he relates his vision for the famed opera.
Prior to the coronavirus outbreak shut down theaters around the world, the company managed one final non-public performance of “Die Walküre;” that showcase was also streamed and remains available for audiences to view.
The performance on March 14, 2020 featured a cast comprised of Joachim Bäckstróm as Siegmund, Lennart Forsén as Hunding, Greer Grimsley as Wotan, Elisabet Strid as Sieglinde, Irene Theorin as Brünnhilde, and Katarina Dalayman as Fricka. Constanin Trinks conducts.
