During the semi-staged performance at the Bella Artes in Mexico of Donizetti’s comic masterpiece, Camarena once again encored the aria “Ah! Mes amis,” making it his first encore in Mexico, his native country. Camarena was celebrating his 15th anniversary on stage and received warm applause after the famed aria. During the historical performance, Rebeca Olvera also encored “Il faut partir,” adding more excitement to the evening which was live streamed on Facebook.
Camarena made history last year when he encored every performance of “La Fille du Régiment” at the Metropolitan Opera and the Royal Opera.

Camarena next returns to the Metropolitan Opera where he performs a production of “La Cenerentola.” He is also set to perform at the Salzburg Festival in a new production of “Don Pasquale” with Cecilia Bartoli and will also perform in “La Sonnambula” at the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
