Merola Opera Program To Present Schwabacher Summer Concert

The San Francisco’s acclaimed Merola Opera Program is set to begin its 62nd season with a showcase of the program’s rising stars in the Schwabacher Summer Concert.

The first concert of the summer series will showcase scenes from “La Rondine,” “Lucia di Lammermoor,” “Die Schweigsame Frau,” “Faust,” and “Il Trovatore.”

The first scene of the program will be selections from Act one will be Amber Monroe, Hyeree Shin, Salvatore Atti, Victor Starsky, Jeff Byrnes, Chelsea Lehnea, Anna Dugan, Alice Chung, Laureano Quant, Andrew Dwan, and Stefan Egerstrom.

The second scenes of the evening will be from act one of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” featuring soprano Chelsea Lehnea, Alice Chung, and Salvatore Atti.

Selections from Act two, Scenes three and four from Strauss’ “Die Schweigsame Frau” will be performed by Hyeree Shin, Stefan Egerstrom, Laureano Quant, Chelsea Lehnea, and Alice Chung.

Then selections from Act four, Scenes 5-8 of Gounod’s “Faust” will be performed by Anna Dugan, Alice Chung, Chelsea Lehnea, Salvatore Atti, Laureano Quant, and Andrew Dwan.

The program ends selections from act four of Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” with Anna Dugan, Alice Chung, Victor Starsky, and Jeff Byrnes.

The Schwabacher Summer Concert will be conducted by Craig Kier, director of the Maryland Opera Studio at The University of Maryland.

Performance Dates are set to be performed July 11 and July 13 at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music’s Caroline H. Hume Concert Hall.
