It’s all about the New Year this weekend. So we chose five concerts that we believe you cannot miss.

350th Anniversary Gala, Opéra De Paris, France  

The Opéra de Paris rings in the New Years with a gala celebrating the company’s 350th anniversary. Sonya Yoncheva, Bryan Hymel and Ludovic Tezier headline the gala which is set to include by Gounod, Verdi, Bizet, Massenet, and Chopin among others. For those not present at the gala, it will be televised by Arte.

Die Fledermaus, Semperoper Dresden, Germany

Jonas Kaufmann headlines the annual Silvester Konzert in Dresden. Franz Welser-Möst conducts an all-star cast that also includes Elisabeth Kulman, Andreas Schager, Rachel Willis-Sørensen, and Tuuli Takala. The concert will also be aired on ZDF for those not present.

New Year’s Eve Gala, Baden Baden Festival, German

Kristine Opolais and Pavel Černoch headline the annual gala with Arias and Duets by Giacomo Puccini, Antonín Dvořák, Franz Lehár, and others. Oksana Lyniv conducts the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern.

Concerto di Capodanno 2019, Teatro la Fenice, Italy 

Nadine Sierra and Francesco Meli headline the annual gala at La Fenice with music by Puccini, Verdi, Bizet, Beethoven, and Donizetti. Myung-Whun Chung conducts the concert, which will also be telecast on Rai. 

Vittorio Girgolo, Royal Opera House Muscat, Oman

Italy’s leading tenor headlines New Year’s eve in Oman with the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Marcello Mottadelli. Soprano Maria Mudryak accompanies Grigiolo with the participation of the talented young pianist Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev.
