The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced a cast change for its production of “Un Ballo in Maschera.”

The company said that Anna Pirozzi will sing the role of Amelia replacing Anastasia Bartoli.

In a statement Pirozzi said, “Thrilled to be back at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich, in the most unexpected moment! Sometimes the most exciting news come when you least expect them… and here I am, ready for a jump-in as Amelia in Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘Un ballo in maschera,’ in Johannes Erath’s production, conducted by Maestro Marco Armiliato. I’m delighted to return to this wonderful theatre and to step into this production alongside an extraordinary cast, including Piotr Beczala as Riccardo and Boris Pinkhasovich as Renato.

The cast will also include Yulia Matochkina and Erika Baikoff.

“Un ballo in Maschera” opens on Oct. 31 and runs through Nov. 12, 2026.
