Gran Teatre del Liceu ‘Aida’ Performance Interrupted by Civil Protection Alerts

On Sept. 28, the Gran Teatre del Liceu’s performance of “Aida” was interrupted by an alert issued by Civil Protection.
According to La Vanguardia and a video the news source shared, the alert was urging caution due to a storm forecast that was forecast for Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The theater was filled to 97 percent capacity and hundreds of persistent notifications rang out on the mobile phones of audience members who had not fully turned off their devices.
Anna Netrebko, who was portraying Aida, was visibly smiling during the interruption.
The performance also starred Ekaterina Semenchuk, Arsen Soghomonyan, Alexander Köpeczi, and Artur Ruciński. Antonello Manacorda was conducting.
“Aida” runs until Oct. 15, 2026.
