Toronto Symphony Orchestra (TSO) has published notes from its 2026 Annual General Meeting.

At its Annual General Meeting held on Sept. 22, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra reported to stakeholders its financial strength, community engagements, and administration updates.

TSO ended the fiscal year with an operating surplus of approximately $34,000, thereby increasing its accumulated surplus to nearly $1 million. Alongside strategic financial management and stewardship, the Symphony emphasized the financial support by record-breaking audience. Throughout the 2025-26 season, subscription sales reached 105 percent of the annual goal, single-ticket sales were the highest in the TSO’s history, and overall attendance averaged 90 percent capacity, breaking the record set the previous year.

Community highlights included the 100th anniversary of TSO School Concerts, the World Première of the multi-disciplinary Young People’s Concert “She Holds Up the Stars” with Indigenous arts organization Red Sky Performance, the Lunar New Year celebration Year of the Horse, and the season finale—Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, a performance of which was live-streamed to the screens at Sankofa Square in partnership with the Luminato Festival.

Outside of Roy Thomson Hall, TSO partnered with organizations such as Brampton’s The Rose Theatre, the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), Alzheimer Society Peel, Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, and Toronto Public Library branches. The Orchestra also went on a highly successful European tour.

Further, it shared that Beck Family Chief Executive Officer Mark Williams’s contract had been extended for an additional five years, and that Board Chair Tom Smee had successfully concluded his term and would be succeeded by former Vice-Chair Colleen Sexsmith.
