Lora Chow, Ivy Tse, Man Wah, and Serena Tong’s new opera, “Sleepless Moon” will make its world premiere on Oct. 1, 2026 at the East Kowloon Cultural Centre in Hong Kong.

“Sleepless Moon” is the first East-West fusion opera. It combines Western operatic styles with traditional Cantonese opera, as well as Chinese martial arts and modern dance. The opera follows Prince Wumian of Empire Ha and Princess Biyue of Empire Leung through a thousand years of reincarnation to the present day where the two meet again as an AI scientist and opera diva.

Alis Lin and Henry Ngan lead the cast. They are joined by Michelle Yim, Vivian Yau, Wong Chi Leung, Marco Tang, Hailey Mak, and Sum Cheuk Yiu. Lora Chow serves as the music director with conductor Jeff Leung. Tang Wai Kit is the stage director. Moon Yip serves as scenographer with Lo Man Hong as video designer. Fung Kwok Kee Gabriel is the lighting designer and Can Ha is the sound designer. Icey Lam and Gigi Yiu are the choreographers and Twinny Cheng is the costume designer.

The premiere of “Sleepless Moon” runs for a total of five performances from Oct. 1 to 4. The opera is presented and produced by Eddie Tam, along with the title-sponsor Bank of East Asia and Central Asset Investments, Amore Xiqu, and the Fringe Club.
