Riccardo Muti’s Villa Verdi concert on Sept. 12, 2026 will move forward.

Following the controversy raised by a letter sent to Corriere della Sera by Cristina Mazzavillani and Riccardo Muti expressing their deep regret that they were not being allowed to perform at the Villa Verdi’s gates, Culture Minister Alessandro Giuli stepped in.

Following a dialogue between Giuli and Cristina Mazzavillani, Mazzavillani revealed, “I am someone who has placed herself at the service of a good and intelligent project. But I’m not speaking for my husband or for the minister, who issued such a clear statement, finally for me too, that I’m fine with it. The minister has given the final word. The concert will take place on the 12th.”

The concert will now feature several artists with Muti at the piano and will include no audience. However, it will be televised on RAI to be seen nationwide.
