
Basel Sinfonietta Announces Partnership with Music Biennale Zagreb
By David SalazarThe Basel Sinfonietta has announced a partnership with the Music Biennale Zagreb (MBZ) for the 2026-27 season, which will include a guest performance by the orchestra at the festival’s 2027 edition.
As part of the collaboration, Executive Director Fiona Stevens and Orchestra Board President Fran Lorkovic will participate as speakers at the MBZ 2026 launch event, scheduled for April 16–17 in Zagreb.
Stevens and Lorkovic will also take part in the MBZ Pro Panel “Insider Leadership” on April 17, where they are set to address the origins and artistic vision of the Basel Sinfonietta, community-building strategies, fundraising, and audience development. Leadership teams from the Serious Ensemble and Platypus Ensemble will also participate. The panel is closed to the public and will be attended by international professionals and media.
The 34th edition of the Music Biennale Zagreb is scheduled to take place from April 10–18, 2027.
Founded in 1980, the Basel Sinfonietta focuses on contemporary repertoire and has commissioned and premiered more than 240 works.
