Symone Harcum, Jonathan Pierce Rhodes, Robert Kerr to Headline Opera Columbus’ ‘The Anonymous Lover’

Opera Columbus will continue its 2025–26 season with the Columbus premiere of “The Anonymous Lover” this February.

The Joseph Bologne work will feature a new libretto adaptation by Kirsten Greenidge, with spoken dialogue in English and sung portions in the original French, accompanied by English supertitles. Performances will be conducted by Dr. Everett McCorvey, Opera Columbus’s Principal Guest Conductor, and directed by Kenneth Overton.

The cast will include Symone Harcum as Léontine, Jonathan Pierce Rhodes as Valcour, Robert Kerr as Ophémon, Matthew Pearce as Colin, Hannah Bullock as Jeannette, and Lauren Cook as Dorothée, with Marcus Charleston and LauraLee Jingo appearing as supernumeraries.

“This rarely heard gem combines elegance, heart, and humor while amplifying a vital voice in operatic history,” said Julia Noulin-Mérat, General Director and CEO of Opera Columbus, per an official press release.

The performance marks the company’s return to the Palace Theatre for the first time since 2005.

“The Anonymous Lover” will take the Palace Theatre’s stage on Feb. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 15 at 2 p.m.
