Polish National Opera to Present New Production of ‘Die Frau Ohne Schatten’

The Polish National Opera is set to present “Die Frau ohne Schatten.”

The opera will be performed in a new production by Mariusz Treliński who will reimagine the work as a contemporary account of a woman experiencing spiritual burnout. The production is inspired by the films of Lars von Trier and Ingmar Bergman, and weaves symbolism and realism, psychological depth, and an immersive visual and musical experience.

The production, which is a co-production with the Lyon Opera, will be conducted by Bassem Akiki and will star Tadeusz Szlenkier, Annemarie Kremer, Lindsay Ammann, Krzysztof Szumański, Lauri Vasar, Lise Lindström, Katarzyna Drelich, Mateusz Zajdel, Paweł Trojak, Remigiusz Łukomski, Magdalena Pluta, and Natalia Bielecka.

“Die Frau ohne Schatten” opens on Feb. 16 and runs through Feb. 28, 2026.
