Malmö Opera has announced two new operas for 2026.

First up, the organization will present the Scandinavian premiere of Paul Moravec and Mark Campbell’s “The Shining.” The opera, which premiered in 2016, will take the stage on August 22, 2206 at Storan in a production by Keith Warner.

Then the company will showcase a production of “Rusalka” directed by Orpha Phelan, who previously helmed “Dead Man Walking” at The Royal Danish Opera and ‘The Tales of Hoffmann” at Malmö Opera. This production of the Dvořák masterpiece takes the stage on Nov. 21, 2026, also at Storan.

The company’s current season continues with “Lohengrin” in a production directed by Charlotte Engelkes. That production opened on Oct. 28 and runs through Dec. 12, 2025.
