Portland Opera Launches Search for Next General Director
By David SalazarPortland Opera is in search of its next General Director, following the planned retirement of Sue Dixon, who will step down on Dec. 31, 2025.
The national search will be conducted in partnership with Summit Search Solutions, Inc. and the Portland Opera Board of Directors.
“As we begin the thoughtful search for our next General Director, we look forward to finding a leader who will harmonize with the company’s rich history and community-driven values,” said Board President Kregg Arntson, per an official press release. “Building on Sue’s remarkable leadership, Portland Opera is well-positioned for this next chapter—one defined by sustainability and artistic excellence.”
Earlier this year, Dixon announced her retirement after a tenure that started back in 2013.
“It has been a true privilege to serve alongside such extraordinary artists, staff, audiences, and supporters, and I am deeply grateful for the friendships and connections that have enriched this journey. Together, we have built something lasting and meaningful, and I will always remain a champion of the opera and an advocate for greater investment in the arts ecosystem,” Dixon stated at the time of her announcement.
