Schmidt Vocal Arts Announces Winners of 2025–26 Pennsylvania Regional Competition

Schmidt Vocal Arts announced the winners of its 2025–26 Pennsylvania Regional Competition, held on Nov. 1, 2025, at Temple University in Philadelphia.

First prize went to Eva Capron, second prize to Mia Mortman, and third prize to Luz Velazquez. The top three winners advanced to the National Competition in May 2026 and received $2,500, $2,000, and $1,500, respectively, with eligibility for additional college scholarships from Schmidt Vocal Arts.

The other finalists included Sibel Ayyildiz, Aleksiia Erokhina, David Isaak, Monique Tian, and Zachary Whelan.

Three singers participated in a master class with the judges before the finals, and four additional awards of $100 were presented for Encouragement, Most Promising Sophomore, and Broadway Bound. Encouragement Awards went to Ethan Flores and Anne-Cécile Kittila, the Most Promising Sophomore honor to Aleksiia Erokhina, and the Broadway Bound award to Athena Matthes.

Twenty-one high school singers from six mid-Atlantic states competed for cash prizes and advancement to the 2026 National Competition. The jury—Kathryn Leemhuis, Amanda Majeski, and Ken Shaw—selected eight finalists, each receiving $250.
