Cast Change: Metropolitan Opera Announces New Donna Anna

The Metropolitan Opera has announced a cast change for “Don Giovanni.”

The company said that Kathleen O’Mara will sing the role of Donna Anna on Oct. 20 and 25, replacing Federica Lombardi.

O’Mara took to social media to announce the news and said, “Surprise!!! I’m am so excited to share that I will be stepping in to sing Donna Anna for the October 20 and 25th performances at the Met Opera! I have been spending my last few weeks covering this incredible role that I’ve been studying since I was in undergrad at WCC, and I’ve loved every second! I am honored to be debuting this role now at the Met, with this magnificent cast! And, I hope to see some of you there.”

O’Mara is an operalia winner who made her Met debut last season in “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and has performed with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and  Westminster Opera Theater, among others.

She is set to join a cast that includes Ryan Speedo Green, Hera Hyesang Park, Janai Brugger, Ben Bliss, Adam Plachetka, and Adam Palka. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the production by Ivo van Hove.
