Piedmont Opera announces its 49th season.

Leoncavallo’s “Pagliacci” opens the season. Benjamin Werley, Cadie J. Bryan, and Jonathan Bryan are among the cast. Chas Rader-Shieber directs. Joseph Mechavich conducts the Winston-Salem Symphony.

Mezzo-soprano Zoie Reams takes on the title role in Bizet’s “Carmen.” She is joined by Dominic Armstrong, Jodi Burns, and Richard Ollarsaba. Dean Anthony is the stage director.

Bass Kevin Burdette performs an exclusive, in-home concert of Schubert’s “Winterreise.” He is accompanied by Joseph Mechavich.

Karen Slack presents “African Queens.”
