Bayerische Staatsoper Announces New Streaming Platform

The Bayerische Staatsoper has announced Staatsoper.tv.

The company announced the news, stating, “With Staatsoper.tv, the Bayerische Staatsoper is launching its own streaming platform and bringing artistic excellence from the Munich Nationaltheater directly to screens worldwide. Whether grand opera, top-class ballet or symphonic masterpieces – viewers can experience selected productions live and on demand. The platform also provides access to historical recordings, concert recordings and exciting new formats.”

The company added, “Staatsoper.tv brings together all audiovisual content from the Bayerische Staatsoper, the Bayerisches Staatsballett and the Bayerisches Staatsorchester on a central platform for the first time – free of charge and with exclusive insights behind the scenes. A digital opera room for everyone who loves music, theater, and artistic diversity.”

The company is currently offering productions of “Andrea Chenier,” “La Favorite,” “Mefistofele,” and “Tosca,” among others.  The company is also offering select audio recordings of such productions as “La Traviata” and “Alcina” with Anja Harteros.
