The Atlanta Opera Names New Principal Conductor
By Francisco SalazarThe Atlanta Opera has announced Maestro Iván López Reynoso as its new Principal Conductor.
The company said that “when Maestro Reynoso took the podium for ‘Macbeth,’ we knew something extraordinary had begun. His artistry, passion, and deep theatrical intuition made a lasting impression—and now it’s official: he’ll lead us into the future, beginning with the 2025–26 season.”
Reynoso will succeed Maestro Arthur Fagen, who led the company for two decades.
In a statement, Reynoso said, “Being named Principal Conductor of the Atlanta Opera is a turning point in my career, and I accept this assignment with profound excitement and commitment. After our performances of Giuseppe Verdi’s ‘Macbeth’ last March, I realized that this is a solid, growing company with a strong artistic and social connection. I am extremely excited to join their team for the next three years, along with their Artistic and General Director, Tomer Zvulun, whom I thank for his trust.”
Next season, he will conduct a production of “Turandot” starring Angela Meade, Piero Pretti, Juliana Grigoryan, and Peixin Chen.
