The Atlanta Opera To Present The Impresario Gala

By Francisco Salazar

The Atlanta Opera will present The Impresarios Gala to celebrate the fun side of opera.

The gala, which is a benefit to raise money to support the company’s endeavors on-stage and in the community, will see four brave individuals compete against one another by lip-synching some of the greatest opera arias in history.

The contenders will be in full costume and give a dramatic performance that will be judged. Each participant will be partnered with a young artist from the Atlanta Opera Studio, who will actually sing the arias.

The participants will compete to win the People’s Choice award for most funds raised and the Judge’s award, based on the creativity, believability, and interpretation of the performances.

Judges will include Brenda Wood, former TV anchor with 11 Alive, D’anne Cagle-Heckert, Group Publisher at Modern Luxury, and Jack Sawyer, President of the Southeast Region for Wilmington Trust and former Atlanta Opera Board Member.

The Impresario Gala will be held on May 20, 2018, at 6:00 p.m.
