The Bregenz Festival in Austria has announced its 2023 season. The season will open with Verdi’s “Ernani” with Enrique Mazzola conducting a production by Lotte de Beer. The cast includes Guanqun Yu, Saimir Pirgu, Igor Golovatenko, and Goran Jurié. Austria’s Bregenzer Festspiele has appointed Enrique Mazzola to the newly created position of conductor in residence. The festival noted that Mazzola will conduct “Ernani” in the Festspielhaus in 2023 and “Der Freischütz” on the Lake Stage in 2024.
