On June 22, Rai 5 will broadcast Rossini’s “Il Viaggio A Reims” from the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma.

The production by Damiano Micheletto will be transmitted live from the theater and will feature an ensemble of singers including Mariangela Sicilia, Anna Goryachova, Juan Francisco Gatell, Adrian Sâmpetrean, Bruno De Simone, and Merto Sungu. Stefano Montanari will conduct the production.

The showcase, which was originally from the Amsterdam Opera, has scored rave reviews since its opening on June 14, 2017.

Micheletto is a renowned Italian director, who is known for his radical opera productions. He is best known for his “La Bohème” which premiered at the Salzburg Festival starring soprano Anna Netrebko as well as his adaptation of “Cavalleria Rusticana” and “Pagliacci” at the Royal Opera House.

Following the June 22 performance there will be one more presentation and then the opera house will move on to a production of Bizet’s “Carmen.”
