Coming this July, the Martina Arroyo Foundation is having a prelude to performance opera highlights concert. The young artists in the MAF program are giving the audience a glimpse into their full productions on July 6 and 8 of Bizet’s “Carmen” and their July 7 and 9 showings of Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” and “Gianni Schicchi.”

The glorious afternoon of the concert or semi-staged reading begins at 2:00 p.m. EDT on June 17, 2017, at the Ida K. Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College in Manhattan. These young voices are going to bring their talents to the Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse, which is also at Hunter College, for their full performances in July.

Both performances are going to be a traditionally staged with typical costumes all accompanied by a full orchestra.  For “Carmen” the audience will hear the familiar Overture, Habanera and “A Votre Toast (The Toreador’s Song),” among others.

Check out what’s in store for their fully staged productions, which will start at 7:30 p.m. EDT.
