By David Salazar

Puccini’s “La Bohème” comes back every season to the Met Opera. And because of its popularity, the opera often features a number of different casts, which can make it tricky for audiences to decide when to head to Lincoln Center for Puccini’s famed masterpiece.

Here is a breakdown of the casts so you can be sure to catch this great work with your favorite singers.

Cast A – Sept. 25- Oct. 13 (Six performances)

Nicole Car makes her Met debut as Mimí in a cast that will also include Vittorio Grigolo as Rodolfo. This is a major debut as Car has been singing Mimí to great acclaim around the world, her performances last season at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden getting a DVD release. Grigolo is no stranger to this role at the Met, making his own Met debut as Rodolfo to stunning acclaim. It should be interesting to see these artists come together.

After a beloved interpretation of Mimí last season, Angel Blue will return to the Puccini classic as Musetta, opposite Etienne Dupuis as Marcello. Davide Luciano performs as Schaunard and Matthew Rose as Colline. Donald Maxwell takes on Benoit and Alcindoro.

It is worth noting that for the Oct. 10 performance, Susanna Phillips and Javier Array will step in for Blue and Luciano.

Cast B – Nov. 29 – Dec. 13 (Five performances)

Ailyn Pérez and Michael Fabiano will reunite as the two-star lovers after a run of performances together on this same stage two seasons ago. Their chemistry was palpable and earned stunning reviews during the run.

Blue will sing all the performances of Musetta during this run with Lucas Meachem as her Marcello. Duncan Rock will interpret Schaunard and Christian Van Horn will take on the role of Colline.

James Gaffigan conducts all the performances of “La Bohème” this season.
