Medici.TV to stream Jonas Kaufmann Recital

By Francisco Salazar

On Nov. 13, 2021, Medici.TV is set to stream a recital by Jonas Kaufmann and Helmut Deutsch.

The recital which, was recorded at United Nations Headquarters, featured the tenor and pianist in a selection of lieder like Brahms’ “Berceuse in D,” as well as little-known gems such Liszt’s “Freudvoll und Leidvoll.”

Regarding his choice of Liszt, who he spotlighted in his new album, Kaufmann noted, “I’m very pleased that our enforced rest made this album possible – under normal circumstances, it would probably not have come into existence quite so quickly. As a result, we were able to record not only those Liszt songs that we had already tried out in the concert hall but also a number of others that until now have been overshadowed by Liszt’s ‘great hits'”.

The program began with lesser-known pieces by Liszt while also exploring masterpieces by Schubert, Dvořák, Böhm, Chopin, Tchaikovsky, and Zemlinsky.
