Lyubov Petrova Replaces Nadine Sierra At The Metropolitan Opera

Nadine Sierra has canceled tonight’s performance of “Le Nozze di Figaro.”

The Metropolitan Opera announced via Twitter that due to illness Nadine Sierra would not be singing. As a result, Lyubov Petrova would replace her.

Petrova made her Met debut in 2011 as Zerbinetta in “Ariadne auf Naxos” and has since performed with the company in “Le Nozze di Figaro,” “Die Frau Ohne Schatten,” “Falstaff,” “Werther,” “Boris Godunov” and “L’Italiana in Algeri.”

The soprano has also performed at the Bolshoi Theatre, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Glyndebourne, Teatro Real Dallas Opera and  Washington National Opera. Among her signature roles are “Lucia di Lammermoor,”  Violetta in “La Traviata” Adele in “Die Fledermaus” and Oscar in “Un Ballo in Maschera.”

Petrova joins Ailyn Pérez, Isabel Leonard, Ildar Abdrazakov, Maurisz Kwiecien and Harry Bicket.

Sierra returns on Jan. 10 for the third performance.
