Lisette Oropesa, Elīna Garanča, Christian Van Horn Headline Met Orchestra’s First-Ever Asia Tour

The Metropolitan Opera has announced its first-ever Met Orchestra Asia tour, which will take place between June 19-30, 2024 in Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

One program features music from “Der Fliegende Holländer,” “Pelléas et Mélisande,” and the entirety of “Bluebeard’s Castle,” starring Elīna Garanča and Christian Van Horn. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.

Performance Date: June 19 (Seoul), June 22 (Hyogo), June 25 & 27 (Tokyo), 2024

Another program in Seoul will feature music by Montgomery and Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 flanking arias by Mozart, performed by Lisette Oropesa. Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts.

Performance Date: June 20 (Seoul), June 23 (Hyogo), June 26 (Tokyo),  June 30 (Taipei), 2024

There will be a variation to the first program once the Met Orchestra heads to Taipei. In addition to the Wagner and Debussy, Lisette Oropesa will perform arias from “Roméo et Juliette” and the orchestra will present Brahm’s Symphony No. 1.
