Karita Mattila, Thomas Hampson & Matthias Goerne Headline The 2019 Verbier Festival

The Verbier Festival has announced its 2019 festival with two opera performances and a number of recitals and concerts featuring some of the greatest singers in the world.

For this season announcement we will only include the vocal performances.

Program

Thomas Quastoff headlines a concert entitled “Meeting Friends” with Wolfgang Meyer and Shawn Grocott.

Performance Date: July 19, 2019

Jakub Józef Orliński will present a recital of music by Purcell, Szymanowski, Baird and Łukaszewski. Michał Biel joins the countertenor on piano.

Performance Date: July 21, 2019

Die Frau Ohne Schatten will be presented in a concert staging with Nina Stemme, Brandon Jovanovich, and Matthias Goerne. Valery Gergiev conducts the performance.

Performance Date: July 22, 2019

Thomas Hampson will join an exceptional group of musicians including Daniel Hope, Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, Stéphane Logerot, and Horst Maria Merz for a program entitled “Berlin 1938.”

Performance Date: July 24, 2o19

Matthias Goerne will perform Brahm’s Vier ernste Gesänge alongside Franz Welser-Moist conducting. Bruckner’s Symphony No.9 will also be performed on the program.

Performance Date: July 25, 2019

Thomas Hampson will give a recital with pianist Wolfram Rieger. Program to be announced.

Performance Dates: July 27, 2019

The festival will also showcase an evening of young artists from the Verbier Academy.

Performance Date: July 28, 2019

Karita Mattila joins violinist Leonidas Kavakos and piabnist Evgeny Kissin in a recital that will include works by Brahms, Strauss, Beethoven and Duparc.

Performance Date: July 29, 2019

“The Magic Flute” will be presented with Verbier Festival participants.

Performance Dates: August 3, 2019

The festival closes with Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 with Fabio Luisi conducting and Ekaterina Gubanova and Golda Schultz performing.
