Juan Diego Flórez & Pretty Yende’s ‘Ricciardo e Zoraide’ To Be Televised

“Ricciardo e Zoraide” is set to make its television premiere on Rai5.

The opera, which will be presented at the Rossini Opera Festival this season starring tenor Juan Diego Flórez and soprano Pretty Yende, will make its premiere on August 30. The opera will be presented as part of Rai5’s Rossini cycle celebrating the composer and the festival’s 150th anniversary.

The cycle will also include past broadcasts of “Ciro in Babilonia” starring Jessica Pratt and Ewa Podles, “Sigismondo” with Olga Peretyatko and Daniela Barcellona, and “Adelaide di Borgogna” with Barcellona and Pratt.

The cycle will begin on August 2, 2018 and will conclude with ‘Ricciardo e Zoraide.”

Flórez has been a major figure at the Rossini Opera Festival since his debut in 1996. Since then, he has performed 11 roles and has had three of his performances broadcast and released on DVD. Yende made her debut at the festival in “Ciro in Babilonia.” This will mark her second role with the company.
