The Teatro Real has announced a cast change for its concert performances of “I Lombardi alla prima crociata.”

The company said that Lidia Fridman will sing the role of Giselda, replacing the originally announced Anna Pirozzi.

Fridman took to social media and said, “So happy to share this special news with you. This July, I will make my Spanish debut at the beautiful Teatro Real in Madrid as Giselda in “I Lombardi alla prima crociata” — a role that challenges me deeply and moves me profoundly, every time.”

Fridman has performed the role of Giselda at the Festival Verdi in Parma. She is well known for her Verdi repertoire, having performed “Nabucco,” “Macbeth,” “Un Ballo in Maschera,” and “Aroldo.” Next season, she performs the role of Lina in “Stiffelio.”

The soprano joins a cast that includes Francesco Meli, Iván Ayón Rivas, Alex Esposito, Miren Urbieta-Vega, and David Lagares. Daniel Oren conducts the performances on July 6 and 9, 2025.
