John Holiday To Be Featured On The Crypt Sessions

By Francisco Salazar

The Crypt Sessions return in April with countertenor John Holiday.

Holiday will perform a set of art songs, arias, spirituals, and standards, taking a break from touring with Gustavo Dudamel and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

The concert will take place in the Crypt Chapel under the Church of the Intercession in Harlem. The performance will include a pre-concert food and wine tasting paired to the music, prepared by Ward 8 Events.

All proceeds go to the Church of the Intercession and will be sponsored by Yamaha.

Holiday is a world renown singer who won the 2017 Marian Anderson Award, and last fall sang in the world premiere of Daniel Roumain’s “We Shall Not Be Moved,” which was directed by Bill T. Jones at Opera Philadelphia’s O17 Festival and New York City’s Apollo Theater. He made his Kennedy Center debut in February, and will tour in April and May with Gustavo Dudamel and the LA Phil, singing Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms in Los Angeles, New York, London and Paris.
