Jennifer Holloway To Make Bilbao Debut In ‘Salome’

Emily Magee has canceled her performances in the title role of “Salome” at the Bilbao Opera.

The company announced the Magee would not be able to perform the Strauss work due to a fracture in her leg. As a result Jennifer Holloway will replace the soprano making her Bilbao debut.

Holloway recently made her debut in the role at the Sächsische Staatsoper de Dresden last season and went on to perform it at Oper Leipzig. This season she will take on Salome at Opera North. The mezzo soprano has performed at the Metroplitan Opera, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden and the opera houses of Madrid, Los Angeles, Toronto, Washington, Florence, and Paris.

Salome also stars Egils Silins,  Daniel Brenna, and Ildikó Komlósi. The opera runs from Feb. 17 to the 26.
