Christopher Purves To Release Second Volume Of Handel Arias

Christopher Purves follows up his successful Handel aria recording with a second volume entitled “Handel’s Finest Arias Volume 2.”

The second album will include an array of lesser-known Handel works, including the virtuoso tour de force “Nell’ africane selve,” which brings the charismatic British baritone’s remarkable technique and vocal range powerfully to the fore.

Jonathan Cohen will conduct the Arcangelo in an album is also set to include music from “Tolomeo,” “Athalia,” “Joshua,” Esther,” and “Catone.”    

Known for his diverse repertoire Purves will appear at Glyndebourne this upcoming season as Golaud in “Pelléas & Mélisande,” in what is the opera company’s first new production of Pelléas in almost 20 years. He is also set to appear at the Zurich Opera and the Dutch National Opera this season.

The new album is set to be released on June 29, 2018 on Hyperion Records.
