CD / DVD Releases – Week of April 30: Decca Celebrates Birgit Nilsson’s Centennial

This week the releases are minimal but there is one opera lovers and fans are going to be interested in.

To celebrate Birgit Nilsson’s centennial birthday, Decca is releasing an 81-CD set with the complete recordings for Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, and Philips. The package will include recordings of the complete Ring Cycle, “Elektra,” “Macbeth,” “Tosca,” “Tristan und Isolde,” and “Un Ballo in Maschera,” among others. There will also be a booklet, which includes facts about the singer’s life, interpretations, and most famous roles.

Prologue

Francesca Aspromonte presents a new album with the Pomo d’oro and Enrico Onofri that includes the music of Monteverdi, Cavalli, Rossi, Scarlatti, Stradella, Cesti, Caccini, and Landi. Pentatone releases the new album, which is expected first in Europe and then in America.
