“Klassik am Odeonsplatz” is set to open on July 13, 2018, featuring star soprano Diana Damrau.
The concert will see Damrau performing alongside Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in arias from Massenet’s “Manon” and Gounod’s “Faust.” The concert will also see Leonard Bernstein’s “Candide” overture, in celebration of the composer’s 100th birthday and the “Méditation” from Massenet’s opera “Thaïs” with violinists Radoslaw Szulc.
The concert will also see conductor Cristian Măcelaru perform music from Satie, Dvořák, and Debussy.
Damrau is set to have a busy summer with a revival of “La Traviata” in Munich and concerts in London, Regensburg, Salzburg, and Ljubljana. She will also make returns to the Opéra National de Paris, the Royal Opera House, and the Metropolitan Opera next season.
BR-Klassik will live stream the concert through video as well as radio. It will also be on Facebook live.
