Anita Rachvelishvili To Star In Metropolitan Opera’s Upcoming New ‘Aida’ Production

Anita Rachvelshvili is set to star in Michael Mayer’s upcoming production of “Aida” at the Metropolitan Opera.

The New York Times revealed in a new interview out this weekend that the mezzo soprano will star in the upcoming production set to for 2020. Rachvelshvili will once again join forces with Anna Netrebko, who is set for the title role.

The interview also revealed that she will join Riccardo Muti in a new recording of “Cavalleria Rusticana” and is currently preparing Didon in “Les Troyens” and Charlotte in “Werther.”

Rachvelishvili is having a breakout season at the Metropolitan Opera, first in “Aida” and is set to make her stage role debut as the Princess of Bouillon in “Adriana Lecouvreur.” She will also bring her acclaimed Dalila to the company’s stage in the spring and will also sing concert performances of “Aida” with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
