Anita Rachvelishvili Announces Her First Solo Album

Anita Rachvelishvili has announced her first solo album for Sony Classical.

The mezzo-soprano announced on her website that she had teamed up with Sony for her first album which will feature popular mezzo works. She also noted that it would be recorded with RAI National Symphony Orchestra.

Rachvelishvili is the latest artist to sign with Sony Classical, as the company has managed to sign such singers as Jonas Kaufmann, Sonya Yoncheva, Vittorio Grigolo, Juan Diego Flórez, Natalie Dessay, Pretty Yende, Plácido Domingo and Nino Machaidze.

The Georgian soprano is recognized internationally for her dramatic skills and has made the title role of “Carmen” in Bizet’s opera her signature. She has performed around the world at the Teatro alla Scala, Metropolitan Opera, the Royal Opera House and the Bayerische Staatsoper. She recently finished a run of “Carmen” at the Lyric Opera of Chicago and is soon expected to repeat the opera at the Bastille in Paris. She will also perform in Verdi’s “Aida” in Switzerland and will return to the Metropolitan Opera as Azucena in Verdi’s “Il Trovatore” in 2017-18.
