Zuly Inirio, Eugenia Forteza, Olivia Greene, Rachelle Pike, Makayla McDonald, James Brown Headline City Lyric Opera’s 2024-25 Season

New York’s City Lyric Opera has announced its 2024-25 season.

First up is “¡Tumbao! A Celebration of Afro-Latin Music” starring soprano Zuly Inirio. She is joined by pianist Amaury Morales and percussionist Hugo Cruz.

Performance Dates: Sept. 26 & 28, 2024

Next up is “Con Fuoco: A Latin American and Iberian Music Concert for Mezzo-Soprano and Guitar” featuring Eugenia Forteza and Emiliano Zapata. The program is presented in collaboration with Madison Sounds.

Performance Dates: Oct. 10, 2024

Then comes “The Pierrot Project: Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire” and Strauss’ ‘Ophelia Lieder” featuring Olivia Greene.

Performance Dates: Oct. 29 & 30 2024

Rachelle Pike will headline “Pepeha: Who We Are, Where We’re From and Where We Belong,” a multimedia vocal recital.

Performance Dates: Dec. 12, 2024

A Baroque Recital Fest will feature several performances showcasing the works of Händel, and Vivaldi, and the world premiere of a new cantata by Rebecca Scout Nelson.

Performance Dates: March 7-9, 2025

Makayla McDonald and Ciera Cope headline “Black Water + Savior,” a double bill of operas by Jeremy Beck and Amy Beth Kristen.

Performance Dates: May 15-18, 2025

Additionally, the company revealed that James Brown will be the CLO 2024-25 Artist in Residence, presenting “Forgotten in the Books,” a chamber concert based on works by Hildegard von Bingen, Björk, and Jess Marlor.
